Can't see PDF from lessons

Postby fbugalla » Tue May 15, 2012 6:10 pm

Hello,
I am facing a very weird situation with Chamilo 1.8.8.4: when trying to reach PDF documents from lessons using CHROME (today's updated version),it just doesn't open the files ( after a while appears the funny "we got a problem" message) and the browser stucks. The weird part of it is that if I navigate to the document from documents instead from lessons I can open the files immediatly even using Chrome...
Even worst: I can open the files from lessons on my local "development" enviroment but not on the "production" server...
Maybe is nothig related with Chamilo but is driving me mad.
Anybody faced something similar before? Any help would be welcome
PS: I had a try on the Chamilo site and created a very simple cours with a lessons pointing to a PDF flie and .... same error occurs... If anyone wants have a try drop me a messsage anad i'll send you user and password to check

HGi,
I would have some questions...
How did you integrate the PDF file into your course (just a link, addes from edition in the course???)
Do you have any other web browser (I know this one sounds strange)
Localy, you said it look like it's working locally, what is the difference (how did you "upload" the PDF both ways?

By document it's accessible. Can you import it in a course?

I think this is it for this time. :)

Hi,
thx for your reply. I've been struggeling with this issue quite a bit as Chrome is now 2nd most popular browser and can't be ignored. I find out that only pdf's bigger than 1Mb crash the system, even though same file accessed from "document" don't behave the same.
Answering your questions:
a) integrate into a lesson from "Construir" linking to a pdf uploaded to a documents folder using chamilo upload.
b) I checked in Firefox and IE and both work fine using Adobe acrobat viewer plugin ver 10.x (in Chrome I tried with both Adobe plug-in and internal Chrome viewer but none works)
c) Uploaded the same way using Chamilo upload functionality found in documents
I also generated the PDF using different software (Adobe indesign, freePDF maker, Adobe Acrobat 10) just in case, and there is no difference. I checked file permission too and seems it has nothing to do.
At the present time I solved the problem shrinking all the documents below 700K but if you need more info please contact me.

Hi,

After some research, the problem does not seems to be on the side of Chamilo.

If you search on google something like that : crash chrome pdf and you will find some informations about this situation.

One interesting topic : http://techlogon.com/2011/09/05/problem ... le-chrome/ (close to one year ago and still not solve !)

Regards,

Alain
