Hi Zopa,

Now you need to connect to translate.chamilo.org and request a special English->Tibetan account by clicking the "Help translating" button.
I am very enthusiastic about having you on board. If you want to have the maximum effect in your translation, you can start by translating the trad4all.inc.php file (click on the language name, then search for this file and click on the "Start translating" button on the right).

Once you have a first list of terms ready, let us know (through here). We'll help you setup your Chamilo installation to enable Tibetan locally (it's usually a bit complicated for new languages). Another way of doing it is to download the translations you've made (through the "Export translations" button) and replace any of the main/lang/[language] folders with the Tibetan's folder contents. It will give you an instantaneous local tibetan Chamilo (albeit named by the name of the other language you replaced).

Finally, we have a little (symbolical) budget to help motivate translators to new languages, so let us know when you can something done if you would like us to contribute a little.

Hello,
I just applied to start translating by following the step you described: "English->Tibetan account by clicking the "Help translating" button."
But then when I try to continue the steps you described: "you can start by translating the trad4all.inc.php file (click on the language name, then search for this file and click on the "Start translating" button on the right)." There is no "start translating" button.
Appart from this once I've translated a bit of it I'll let you know.
I was just wandering since I'm using chamilo 2.x isn't it a problem to translate the 1.x, maybe it is the same interface for both of them?
About the "little (symbolical) budget to help motivate translators", I'm fine for know but I'll let you know, thanks a lot for this generosity.

Hi Zopa,

I just enabled your account. I'm afraid for Chamilo 2, I can't help you much (I didn't catch the fact that we were in the Chamilo LCMS sub-forum :-p). The translate.chamilo.org application is only for Chamilo LMS (1.*).

I'll let the guys from LCMS answer you on the procedure to translate it. As far as I know there is no current procedure described anywhere.

No, don't ask me why... LCMS was built after LMS, so it should have worked (it used the LMS base in the first place, but disgressed from that ever since, with other formats). W are hoping that sometime around 2013 we will be able to share the same basis again through the use of Ubuntu's Launchpad translation platform, but that is a few months further, still.

there is no automatic way to do it for now.

every package in chamilo has it's own "resources" folder with an i18n folder with an .i18n file for each supported language.

you could copy the en.i18n folder and replace all the english translations to tibetan translations.

it's the only way I know off. I know some people have written some scripts to automate some parts of the process, but I don't know any specifics. maybe you could try contacting chamilo.benelug@gmail.com

Also maybe you want to think if you want to start translating chamilo 2.1 or wait untill the chamilo 3.1 release (very soon if I understand correctly) and start translating that
