[Answered] Blog by Teacher

Postby mcampos » Tue Sep 21, 2010 8:13 pm

Hi, I'm testing Chamilo to use in my institution (Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Tocantins, Palmas city). I see the blog resource but it is linked to a course. I think that would be insteresting that the blog was linked to the teacher, and it must have a friendly URL, like www.mychamilo.edu.br/teacher-name.

The blog would be public ou not, depending of the configuration.

Hi mcampos,

We do not plan on implementing a blog feature by user in Chamilo 1.8, but you can easily create your own blog on wordpress, for example, and enable the rss_feeds field in your user profile field (Chamilo administration).

This way, users can put their Wordpress, blogpost or whatever other blog inside their profile, and their latest posts will be visible by all users looking at their extended profile.

There is also a hidden feature in Chamilo 1.8.7.1 that allows you to have urls like http://www.mychamilo.edu.br/u/ywarnier. To enable that, you need to convert the "htaccess" file in the root of your chamilo directory to ".htaccess". That should work directly.

It works fine for me. After that I enabled apache mod_rewrite and rename htaccess to .htaccess, it works.

But the URL was http://mychamilo.edu.br/user_name and not http://mychamilo.edu/br/u/user_name.

Thank you.
