Is there a way in the future to add users by connecting to Active Directory? I use Chamilo on a corporate intranet and it would be very useful to have all our employees already brought in as users via Active Directory link.
I put this under Chamilo 2, then remembered I'm still running 1.8.

Hi dallons,

Active Directory is a technology developed and maintained by Microsoft, which doesn't make any effort to allow external systems to connect to it. As such, it is impossible to find a reliable native Active Directory for use with PHP (the programming language we use in Chamilo).

There is, however, a possibility to connect it to Active Directory if the AD server is configured in LDAP-compatibility mode. It is then possible for Chamilo (already in 1.8.8.4) to be configured to connect to the fake LDAP server.
