On 27th of January 2012 the Chamilo User Group for Belgium- The Netherlands - Luxemburg officially started. The new Chamilo2.1 ALDRIN release and its introduction in several organisations was the main item of this kick-off. Chamilo 2.1 is reliable collaboration software for the next generation!

Chamilo Community Day - Registration now open!

The Chamilo Community Day event is now open for registration, and will be held on Thursday, March 8th 2012 from 10h00 - 17h00 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium.

This event is organized to give our community the opportunity to provide us with feedback and suggestions to improve the operation of the Chamilo Association and its software.
We will start this event with the presentation of the Annual Report 2011 where the Board members will give you an overview of all things that happened inside our community during the last year. This will include more information about our users/members, software development progress & projects defined early in 2011.

In the afternoon we will organize 2 discussion groups to talk about several topics and will try to provide the Chamilo Assocation with improvements and suggestions.
The outcome of these discussions will be integrated into several project ideas for 2012. These project proposals will be presented and discussed at the General Assembly 2012 that will be held on Friday, the 9 of March in Brussels.

If you are an active member of the Chamilo community and have a clear view on how to improve the way the Chamilo Association is working right now, don't hesitate and register today! We have a limited capacity of 50 people who can attend this event.

Chamilo 2.1 Aldrin and PHP 5.3.7/8!

Dear community,

The last few days we received several bug reports from people who where unable to install Chamilo 2.1 Aldrin on their servers.

After some serious debugging (thanks Sven and PJ) we found the origin of the installation problems.

Chamilo 2.1 Aldrin can't be installed due to a bug in PHP 5.3.7/5.3.8 which broke backwards compatibility in the "is_a" function. A function that is widely used by several external plugins inside Chamilo 2.1.

Because of this broken compatibility the autoloader was triggered with wrong data. (See bugreport https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=55475) The bug is already fixed in PHP 5.3.9 (See http://php.net/ChangeLog-5.php)

If you want to use Chamilo 2.1 we recommend to use a PHP version lower then PHP 5.3.7 or higher then 5.3.8.
